Acne is caused by the combination of a high sebum production
and pinched off sebum canals. If the pinching off of sebum
canals is eliminated, you will get NO new pimples whatsoever.
Most foods contain such substances that make the skin pinch
off sebum canals. And if you have a high sebum production, this
will lead to acne.
Because most foods contain such acne-causing substances, it
is very hard to tell what food exactly caused that new pimple you
get.

How can I know whether my acne is caused by certain foods,
without having to buy anything?

That is easy. All you need to do is to eliminate ALL foods that can
cause acne, for about one to two weeks. During this period you
will see a drastic improvement in your skin complexion and you
should keep on mainting this strict 'sample diet' until your skin is
totally clear, and then you have your proof.
Of course you can keep on maintaining this diet forever, but that
is extremely hard and also not necessary. Once your skin is
totally clean, you can either do your own experiments or you can
start adding 'munch-foods' that are the least 'acne-causing' to
your diet, to the extend that you want your skin to be clean.
The big difference is that then YOU are in control about how
clear you want your skin to be, instead of that the acne rules
your life.

These foods contain all required nutrients; you can check this by
submitting your version of the 'Acne Sample diet' to this nutrient
calculator.

If you then must conclude that your diet is low in (a) certain
nutrient(s), then you can upgrade your diet by consuming foods
that contain very much of that specific nutrient(s). To be able to

During these two weeks you need to stick to the rules below. If
you don't, you probably break out again.


The rules



1) As a woman you should consume 2 egg yolks OR maximally
50 gram fresh raw fish a day.

If you are a tall man you should maximally consume 100 gram
(3.5oz.) fresh raw fish OR 5 egg yolks a day. If you are a relatively
short man, 60 gram (or 3 egg yolks) is the right amount.

This because redundant protein can easily increase the
blood-protein level, since blood protein level can fluctuate very
much; from 100% (alanine) up to 900% (cystine). A too high blood
protein level can elevate the protein level in the true skin, making
the skin temporarily retain more water, pinching off sebum
canals.



2) You should remain physically inactive for at least 1.5 hours
after every time you have consumed some fresh raw fish or -egg
yolk.



3) You should always combine sugars with fats. So, when you
eat dried fruits, you should eat some Brazil nuts or macadamia
nuts as well (only if shelled by hand) And if you eat a
cucumber-tomato-salad, you should eat some avocado as well.
Or you could just simply always combine sugars with
cold-pressed olive oil, which combines well with virtually
anything. Olive oil, for example, can also perfectly be added to
orange juice.
All the above to stabilize the blood sugar level. (as a guideline:
roughly 1 gram fat for every 2 grams carbs;
check this list)


4) If you want to eat the fruits, salad and sashimi in one meal;
first eat the fruits, then the salad and finally the sashimi, to
prevent cramps / gasses / bloating.



5) Juices from pressed fruits (like orange juice) or from the juice
extractor are perfectly fine to consume, but not shakes that you
make by the use of a blender / mixer (especially when mixing /
blending banana).

This because the high rotation speed of the knives in the blender
/ mixer originates 'dirty protein'.  



6) With this diet, you cannot eat only a few meals a day, but,
instead, you need to eat much more often; at least something
like 9 meals a day...

If you don't, you will under-eat, which always has adverse effects
eventually (exhaustion, loss of muscle weight, depression)

The reason lays in the fact that cooked foods, wheat- and diary
products always contain appetite enhancers (beta-carbolines,
opioid peptides), and that the foods that are included in this diet,
do not contain such substances, so that you likely ingest too
little energy if you don't adapt your eating habits properly.

If you have problems ingesting enough energy, you should drink
more juices (pressed juices, or juices from the juice extractor)
instead of whole fruits (the fiber in whole fruits inhibits your
appetite)


7) While on this sample diet you cannot use any topical or
hormonal treatment (no Murrad, no Differin etc.), because any of
these can also aggravate acne. (Browse through the archives of
on-line acne discussion boards).

You should be off all antibiotics during two weeks before you can
start with the sample diet. This because antibiotics weaken your
defense system, which can be dangerous when you are going to
eat fresh raw egg yolks or fresh raw fish.


8) During these two weeks you cannot use any moisturizer.
Moisturizers contain chemicals that are absorbed in your skin to
attract water, which may lead to an increased water-pressure in
the true skin, which pinches off sebum canals, causing acne if
also much sebum is produced. To protect your outer skin from
dehydration you instead should use a
fingertip of oil (that is low
in vitamin E, since vit. E accelerates shedding of the skin; NO
olive oil etc.) and spread that all over your face (that is still a bit
moist) after you have cleaned it with a mild cleansing lotion.

In some women however, the skin reacts not good to the oil, so
please start carefully, with one part of the face first. And if that
does not cause any 'sandy bumps' within a week, then you can
apply it to the whole face.


9) Don't clean your face with tap water, but with low-mineral
bottled water (like Volvic, El Dorado or Montcalm). Chemicals in
tap water can trigger allergic-like reactions that cause tallow
canals to be pinched off. Excessive chloride and other minerals
in tap water dehydrate the skin, thus causing dry flaky patches
on the face. You don't need to buy a special water sprayer for
your face; you can use a plant sprayer filled with low-mineral
bottled water, of course.

Use the same low mineral water if you want to drink water.


10) You cannot take any supplement while on this diet, because
all supplements contain ingredients that can cause acne (like
gelatin). This diet abundantly supplies you with all required
nutrients. (but if you are a vegan, you have no other choice than
to take supplementary B12 anyway)



11) The rules are there to exclude all other possible causes
(except for stress of course). Breaking a rule is no disaster, but
if only you break one rule during these two weeks, you need to
start from day one again.



12) You best keep a journal during these two weeks, regarding
what you eat and the condition of your skin, so that an analysis
can be made in case things are not according to expectations.



After those two weeks the results will be very clear (if you stick
to the rules of course), and you will be 100% sure that the diet
works for you too.

ONCE AGAIN AS ALWAYS CONSULT WITH A DOCTOR BEFORE
DIET AND EXERCISE!!
We've all been warned at some point or another about
the dangers of popping our own pimples (scarring!
infection! irritation!), but the truth is, we do it anyway. If
you're going to pop, you might as well know the right
way to go about it.

First up, a word about which pimples are okay to
squeeze, and which ones to keep your itchy little paws
away from. A good rule of thumb is that you should only
pop blemishes that have very distinct, white heads.
This sort of blemish is common in cases of mild to
moderate acne. Never try to pop something that does
not have a white head, no matter how painful, red, or
raised it is. Nothing will come out, and you will only
make the pain and irritation worse.

Ready to get started? Then read more.

STEP 1: Be sure to start with a freshly scrubbed face
and hands. I thought this one was common sense, until
a friend told me about the staph infection she got from
popping a pimple in an airport bathroom with
unwashed hands. Ew.
STEP 2: Using a hot compress of some sort (such as a
washcloth soaked in hot water), apply heat and
pressure to the area of the pimple for at least a minute.
This helps soften the skin around the blemish, allowing
for an easier extraction.
STEP 3: Some advocate using Q-Tips, or even needles,
to do the actual job. It's hard to get a good grip on the
skin with a Q-Tip, and anything with a needle should be
left to someone with a medical degree. I prefer toilet
paper-wrapped fingertips, myself. It keeps the process
sterile, and allows you to get a controlled grip on the
skin surrounding the blemish.
STEP 4: Time to squeeze! The #1 most important thing
to keep in mind is that you want to squeeze the
contents of the zit upwards. If you don't get
underneath the zit, you risk it rupturing downward into
your skin, which causes further infection (and possibly,
a painful cyst). Grip either side of the blemish and
gently apply pressure with your fingertips, not your
nails. If it is ready to pop, you shouldn't need more
than gentle pressure. If you find yourself pinching the
skin too tightly with nothing to show for it, the blemish
just wasn't ready. Leave it alone and try again
tomorrow. If the blemish pops, you can give it an
additional squeeze or two (but that's it!) to get
everything out. Once it starts expelling clear liquid or a
small amount of blood, it's time to stop.
STEP 5: After you have finished squeezing, gently dab
the area clean with an alcohol-based toner or
cleansing pad. Don't put makeup over the blemish
while it is still open and oozing! (This is basically the
equivalent of stuffing dirt down into the open pore.)
For this reason, it's best to save the popping for
evenings, rather than before leaving for work in the
morning. I prefer to let the pimple dry out a bit, and
then apply a mild topical antibiotic such as Neosporin
to help kill any infection-causing bacteria. Some
people prefer to use an acne spot treatment. Either
way, be sure to avoid any pore clogging products,
including moisturizers, primers, and the like, until the
lesion has dried completely.

Reasons not to Pop a Zit

Some say that popping a zit will leave scars. This is
true if the zit becomes infected after being popped. It
is also said the popping a zit can force bacteria and oil
into deeper layers of skin. Sometimes after popping a
zit it will look worse then before you popped it. After
popping a zit you will have to avoid applying make up
to cover it up until the zit has healed which is a good
reason not to pop a zit if you wear make where the zit
is.

Reasons to Pop a Zit

In some cases popping a zit may actually help the zit to
heal faster. The main reasons for popping a zit is that
most people do not like to see zits. It is also a good
idea to pop then in a controlled way instead of having
them pop on their own when you can be sure that your
face is clean and the interment popping them is sterile.

How to Pop a Zit

If you decided to pop a zit there are some things to
keep in mind and that will actually make the process
easier. Heating the zit will help open the pore and
make it less painful to pop. Try popping zits after a
shower or bath. Always be sure that you have clean
hands and nails to avoid infecting the area. You will
also need to use a sterilized needle To sterilize a
needle pass it under a flame or clean it with rubbing
alcohol. Grab the pimple and surrounding area
applying pressure so that the pus comes to the
surface then gently prick the head of the pimple.
Continue applying pressure till pus or blood comes to
the surface then release the pimple and use a clean
cloth, napkin or toilet paper to remove the pus and
blood. Hold the cloth over the zit until the liquid has
stopped flowing. After you have wiped the area of pus
clean the open area with hydrogen peroxide. Applying
an antibacterial cream is also a good idea to help
speed up healing of the area. If you are popping more
then one zit be sure to clean your hands and utilizes
after every zit.

You can also spread the sebum (oil) throughout the
skin causing further breakouts in the surrounding
area. If you don’t want your acne to become “deep
rooted” but you MUST pop the pimple, you’ll want to
pop your pimples using the following technique.

1. Depending on where the pimple is, you’ll want to
shower or wash your face GENTLY with warm water.

2. Be sure that you’ve washed your hands with some
sort of antibacterial soap as to not spread germs into
the pimple.

3. Take a piece of tissue in each hand and create a
barrier between the pimple and your fingers with the
tissue. The idea is to keep the pimple as clean as
possible.

4. Gently apply pressure by squeezing with your
fingers. When possible, try to squeeze in a direction
away from the pimple. This can be hard to do with
smaller acne so just do your best.

5. Do not squeeze any more after the pus has come
out! If you see clear fluid or blood - STOP. This is how
squeezing can escalate infection.

6. Afterwards, apply a drop of benzoyl-peroxide (acne
product) to a small piece of tissue, cotton swab or
gauze pad. Some people can use a drop of rubbing
alcohol if their skin isn’t too sensitive. The idea is to
dry the open wound and kill any bacteria inside. When
it comes to acne medicine, Less is More. You can
easily irritate the open pimple by using too much.
